Individual Psychotherapy

Talk with Psychologist

Psychotherapy is a highly personalized, collaborative process in which the therapist and client work together to address emotional, behavioural, and even social struggles.

However, it is not random. The psychologist helps the patient using a methodology, which develops the necessary resources to tackle the patient's demands.

How does therapy work? Do I only talk?

01. Support and Assessment

In therapy, you have a safe and confidential space to share what you consider most important. What you share will be received attentively and without judgment.

At the same time, we will explore your life more broadly based on your story. Which aspects satisfy you? Which ones would you like to change?

02. Awareness

We will seek to find out how your circumstances contribute (or not) to your difficulties. How does your life function, and you within it? How aligned is your life with what you truly want?

As you gain more self-awareness, we can explore, together, new paths that align with your goals.

The Process

03. Intervention

With self-awareness established, we will structure an intervention plan to help you develop skills to deal with the difficulties you face today.

This learning process takes place both in the sessions and through activities suggested for you to work on in your daily life.

04. Self-Confidence

By the end of therapy, it should help you feel more secure about what truly matters to you and confident in your ability to overcome challenges.

Questions & Answers

What is the first session like? I'm not sure what to talk about. It is natural to not know exactly what to say in the first session, but the psychologist can help. The first session is usually a space for you to feel welcomed. Typically, some questions will be asked to better understand your story, what brought you to therapy, and what your goals are. You can talk about something that has been bothering you, recent events or even that you are unsure about what to say! The therapist is there to help you with questions and reflections.

Do I need to talk about everything at once? Or can I choose what to talk about? You don't have to talk about everything at the start, and there is no list of mandatory subjects. Therapy happens at your rhythm, and you can choose what you feel comfortable divulging. Some people prefer to start by discussing what’s bothering them the most, while others take more time to open up. What’s important is knowing that you have the freedom to bring any topic to the session. The psychologist is there to listen, support, and help you. There’s no need to worry about “doing it right” — what you bring to therapy is already enough to begin.

Does therapy have an end? How long does it last? The time you spend on therapy varies with the demands. Every therapy starts with a demand, personal or external, that some difficulty exists in dealing with personal problems. The work involves better understanding this need, as well as other possible issues, and developing a repertoire capable of dealing with them. The therapy ends when the patient has gained enough resources to live his life more confidently.

How much do the sessions cost? I work with clients from different countries and contexts, so the cost of sessions can vary significantly. The good news is that the initial consultation has a fixed fee of $20. In this session, we will explore together whether therapy is the right path for you and determine a fee that works for your sessions.

Still unsure if therapy can help?

Initial Consultation

Treating Mental Health

The initial consultation is an online session lasting 30 to 40 minutes, where you and the psychologist can discuss your main concerns and needs. The psychologist will listen to your concerns, understand your priorities, and explain how therapy works. There is no commitment to continue with treatment after the initial consultation

This session also allows the therapist to evaluate your case and verify if they can help you achieve your goals. At the same time, it is an opportunity for you to ask questions and decide if this approach is for you.
